Amsterdam Blue Delft style Mural

I was asked to paint a 27 squared meters mural in the hallway of a beautiful 17th century canal house in the heart of Amsterdam. The artwork style is inspired by the traditional Delfts Blauw style, a hugely influential style between 1600 and 1800 AD inspired by Chinese porcelain. I first sketched the whole artwork in digital and then I painted it on the wall using acrylic markers. My goal was to create a surprise effect when entering the main door of the house. The viewer would be immerse into an imaginary version of Amsterdam full of fun scenes along the way.

The mural is located in the hallway of a beautiful private house facing the water in the most central canal of Amsterdam.

The artwork depicts the vibrant life of the most popular districts of Amsterdam, guiding the viewer through an immersive experience inside the artwork itself.

The four meters high ceiling is also decorated with a plane dominating the sky, representing the connection of the City with the rest of the world.
